International demonstration against the new Austrian government!
On Saturday, the 19th of February, an international demonstration against the new Austrian government takes place in Vienna. The protest is organized by an alliance of human rights organizations. (The original appeal is attached at the end).
Official meeting places are at 3:30 pm the parliament, the University of Vienna (both located on the "Ring"), the "Staatsoper" (state opera house), and the "Stephansplatz" (in the city centre at St. Stephan's Cathedral). The different protest marches will meet at the "Heldenplatz" where at 6 pm a mass rally will take place.
In any case we all will join this protest, even though for us the criticism in the appeal does not go far enough. For those who like us want to formulate and visualize a further radical left criticism we suggest to march in a common block. These people will meet already at 2 pm at the "Westbahnhof" (main west-station) and then go to the meeting point at the University of Vienna.
Against racism, sexism, and facism in all colours and shapes!
Appeal of the "Demokratische Offensive"
No to racism.
No to the right-extreme.
For an open, pluralistic, and social Austria.
For a Europe without racism.
We are for an Austria that productively works within the EU, that developes its creative potential in an open and democratic society, and that envisages integration and not splitting and discrimination.
We are for an Austria that builts up and not decreases the social community, where fairness and justice for equal chances for the young , women, the elderly, and everybody living in Austria are substantial goals.
We are for an Austria that is not leaded into a total isolation, an Austria that leaves no doubt about its position concerning racism, hate against foreigners and antisemitism, and also the National Socialism.
We are against notorious political arsonists but also against the petty bourgeois who run the political cabinet with them and want to cut the social services. We are against it that the third richest country of the EU at the expanses of the poor and the weak tries to further save money, and that the health of sick people is made to an issue of money.
The black-blue coalition has brought the country into the worst crisis since the 2. Republic. It must make room for a constructive new beginning.
