Enormous protests against new government in Austria!

During the inauguration of the new Austrian governemnt, consisting of the conservative party (OeVP) and the extreme right wing freedom party (FPOE), massive protests were going on. At 10:30 am protestants started gathering in front of the building where the government was formerly put into duty. The govermental building was completly barred by the police. At 12 noon already 10 000 people had showed up to protest. Today the protestants were more outraged than before and threw fruits, eggs and other stuff against the police. Quite a few times it came to fights between the protestants and the police. Consequently, the members of the new government could not enter the building through the main entrance but instead had to use an onderground tunnel.

Afterwards about 5 000 protestants started a spotaneous demonstration leading along one of the main streets in Vienna causing a complete traffic jam. Arriving at the ministry of social affairs that now will be under the administration of the FPOe, 200 activists spontaneously occupied the building and put their flags and banners on the balcony. Public officials working in that ministry actually welcomed the activists. When the occupants tried to peacefully leave the building they found it looked from outside by the police. Then the door was briefly opened and some of the protestants could leave the building. All of a sudden 10 special police officers (WEGA, 80% of whom are known to symphathize with the right wing FPOe) started thrashing whoever was close to them. Because of the predominance of the opportunists the police officers backed off and most of the occupants could leave the building. But then about 100 police officers assaulted the activists in a brutal way. For example, a woman already lying on the floor was hit into the face. After some time the police finally let everybody leave the building. At this hour (10:00 pm) still some thousand people are marching through the city. In the meantime the police officially announced that they will take action against the protestants and will start to arrest people immediately.

Even though this government became reality the protests must go on!
